IT Unit Head
1. Requirement: The candidate must have:
1.1. At least master’s degree ;
1.2. Broader experience and extensive background in and affinity with IT;
1.3. An appreciation of information technologies and communications;
1.4. Commitment towards realization of academic mission of the College;
2. Duties and Responsibilities
The IT unit head shall have the following duties and responsibilities:
a) Manage the IT infrastructure of the College;
b) Oversee the annual IT budget, ensure cost-effectiveness, and work in line with the budget;
c) Plan, organize, control and evaluate IT operations;
d) Design, develop and coordinate IT systems, polices, manuals and procedures, polices, manuals and procedures, and best practices for the College;
e) Administer IT physical facilities of the College;
f) Advise the President/College in matters of IT development and management;
g) Perform detailed diagnostic inspection and maintenance of assigned campus area computers, printers, network hardware, computer components including monitors, drives, and other computer and network peripherals;
h) Troubleshoot, isolate, and correct computer, peripheral, and network problems, and immediately notify supervisor of situations in which additional campus personnel or external intervention may be required to solve a problem;
i) Assist staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines;
j) Install microcomputers, peripheral equipment, routers, switches, hubs, firewalls, network appliances, wireless access points, and hardware and software upgrades.
k) Test and evaluates hardware and software to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing system;
l) Interpret written requirements and technical specifications as set by the client for their software;
m) Select and prepare the purchasing of new and replacement hardware and software, when necessary;
n) Coordinate and direct the activities of application software development (customization) function, and/or a software quality assurance function;
o) Develop, maintain and administer website of the College;
p) Oversee the conceptualization, development, and layout of the appropriate technical infrastructure required to deliver digital e-learning content;
q) Coordinate and maintain the College’s e-learning intranet or web site by posting and updating course materials, grades, and other information;
r) Manage the IT staff by recruiting, training, communicating the expectations and apprising their performance;
s) Provide direction for IT team staff;
t) Ensure that all the data, network access and systems are secure and protected;
u) Regularly ensure backing up of systems;
v) Devote 9 credit hours of teaching per-week;
w) Regularly file reports on the functioning of the systems and department;
x) Remain up to date with advances in technology and industry best practices;
y) Perform other related tasks given by the immediate supervisor.
