Reasearch and community service coordinator/RCSC Duties and responsibilities

1.  Requirement: The candidate must have:

1.1.   a minimum of master’s degree (preferably a rank of Assistant Professor and above);

1.2.   Broader experience in research and development activities and an understanding of dynamics in academics and research trends;

1.3.   Excellent communication and interpersonal skill and proven leadership ability and motivation;

1.4.   An appreciation of team spirit and demonstrated competence in coordination of activities;

1.5.   An understanding of national policies and international trends and issues that are directly or indirectly related to the activities of the College;

1.6.   Commitment towards realization of academic mission of the College;

Duties and Responsibilities

The RCSC shall have the following duties and responsibilities:

a)    Plans, organizes, leads, manages and controls the activities of all research programs and community services;

b)    Develops, recommends and implements policies and administrative procedures for research programs;

c)    Follows up the proper implementation of policies, rules and regulations for research programs;

d)    Makes recommendations for fostering the development of research programs;

e)    Facilitates the development of interdisciplinary research programs in consultation with the units concerned;

f)     Coordinates internal and external assistance for research programs and allocate resources in consultation with the  concerned bodies;

g)    Develops work program(strategic plan) for efficient management of existing and expanding research programs and opening new ones;

h)   Promotes the development of appropriate incentive schemes in the College for researchers;

i)     Follows up the formulation of the research coordination structure of the College;

j)      Evaluates existing research capacity and identify gaps and priority areas for capacity building;

k)    Follows up implementation of plans for research capacity building;

l)     Identifies thematic research areas;

m)  Coordinates and facilitates research activities (call for proposals, receive concept notes and CVs, regroup based on merit, allocate startup fund for proposal development;

n)   Coordinates and facilitates collaborative research programs with donors and funding agencies;

o)    Coordinates, registers, monitors and follows up research and related activities;

p)    Checks regular progress reports on the research programs;

q)    Prepares periodic reports on research activities in all faculties;

r)     Prepares and disseminates research outputs;

s)    Links PhD and masters researches with thematic, sponsored research projects, grants and external funding;

t)     Coordinates, facilitates and guides community and consultancy services to various stakeholders in the areas of their needs and requests.

u)   Facilitates that the participating departments/unit, colleges and involved external partners benefit from financial rewards, recognition, experience sharing and feedback and lessons;

v)    Ensures that the College benefits financially from the consultancy services provided to various organizations and communities;

w)   Promotes, supports and facilitates staffs’ and students’ engagements in community development activities through different mechanisms such as practicum, community development centered curriculum designing for training, leaflets, bulletins and mass media;

x)    Guides and supports department in their effort to facilitate delivery of outreach and community engagement services in the areas of excellence of the department

y)    Organizes public lectures and seminars on current issues and community concerns.

z)    Directs the implementation of agreements and projects related to its domain with other organizations;

aa) Organize conferences, workshops and symposia, etc.

bb) Perform other related tasks given by the immediate supervisor.
